12-Bottle Blond Bombshell
"Yah, Jungkook, why don't you sit for a minute?" Yoongi said, not looking up from the computer. "I'm sure Jimin can make it home safe."
Swallowing roughly, Jungkook stopped, eyeing the other three in the room as he leaned up against the wall. "Sure about that? We already know Jin can't fight back," he said, crossing his arms over his chest.
Namjoon blinked, looking up at the other three as those leaving disappeared out the door. Hoseok was also uncharacteristically frowning. "Someone should go with them," Hoseok said. "What if they run into trouble?"
"It's still crowded out, and they're walking through well lit and occupied areas," Namjoon said quietly. "They'll be fine as three."
"Can we focus please? The ladies will be fine," Yoongi said, getting to his feet. He approached Jungkook, the younger letting his arms drop to his side and straightened up.
Jungkook had a couple of inches on Yoongi, but Jungkook wasn't that stupid to think he could win against him. "Jungkook, you're on my shit list," Yoongi said, poking him in the chest. "Now, Namjoon and Hoseok already kicked the shit out of the kid that physically hurt Jimin. But you? What you did is worse, and I'm still itching to drop whatever asshole hurts Jimin, physically, or emotionally."
"I don't need another lecture," Jungkook said, meeting Yoongi's gaze. "I get it, you all think I'm an asshole and you all care more about Jimin than I do. Or that's what I'm hearing," his eyes flicked to Hoseok briefly. "If it makes you feel better to hit me, then hit me. Not going to change anything."
Yoongi's expression was unreadable at that, and it was a long still moment before he looked at Namjoon over his shoulder. "Jin will be pissed if I give this kid a black eye won't he."
"Yes," Namjoon said plainly, watching from his seat. "So will Jimin, by the way. But Jungkook, if this sort of thing happens again, none of us will stop him from decking you."
"Alright, I get it," Jungkook sighed, holding up his hands in defeat. "I need to do better... I'm still figuring out how to do that."
"I'd stay step one is not being a dick, but I know that's hard for you," Yoongi said, giving Jungkook a rough slap on the shoulder before returning to his seat.
"I'll keep that in mind," Jungkook muttered rubbing at his shoulder.
Namjoon sighed, leaning in to adjust some of the mixing board controls. "For now... let's focus on the song. Stick around Jungkook, we could use your input. Hoseok, why don't you pop into the booth and show Yoongi what you practiced?"
"You bet!" Hoseok disappeared into the booth, still holding the lyric sheet.
They stayed in the studio for a few more hours, until a text from Taehyung reminded him they had food waiting. The four packed up, Namjoon chewing on the end of his pen as he looked down at the scratched out lines in his notebook. "Something's still missing," he murmured, frowning.
"Yeah, I know what you mean," Yoongi said, shutting down the computer. "You have any ideas as to what it is and what we can do about it?"
"No clue," Namjoon sighed. "And it's not a choreography," he added, seeing Hoseok open his mouth in the corner of his eyes. The other man pouted as Namjoon continued. "It's late, we've been working on this for hours. Let's break for today and try again next time. When did you say you have studio time again?"
"Tomorrow," Yoongi said, stretching his arms over his head. "I don't think anyone was dumb enough to take Saturday classes this year right? So shouldn't be a problem getting everyone together again."
"Jimin and I have dance practice," Jungkook said. "The dance exhibition is next month, we're in a lot of numbers so Jimin wants to get extra practice in. He'll be by afterwards, I've got plans."
"Alright, Hoseok? Namjoon?" Yoongi asked, ushering them out of the room to lock up. "You two have any big plans?"
"I'll be by same time as Jimin," Hoseok put out, but Namjoon was frowning.
"I have plans. I'll pop in if I get the time, but otherwise I'll be by on Sunday."
"What, you got a date with your books or something?" Yoongi snorted at Namjoon. "I think now that we're officially through our first week of classes, we should celebrate. Party tomorrow? Hoseok?"
"Absolutely!" Hoseok shouted excitedly.
Namjoon rolled his eyes at Yoongi. "I said I have plans. And we literally just had a party. If you're looking for an excuse to get drunk, I'm sure Taehyung will be willing to indulge you."
"And so will Hoseok," Yoongi pointed out. "If you don't want to come that's fine, I'm sure your books are so much more exciting than we are." He heard Jungkook snort over his shoulder, the youngest following them with his hands in his pockets.
Namjoon rolled his eyes. "Some of us actually plan on graduating in the next few years," he retorted, walking along the hallway towards the building exit.
"Yeah, but to be a shrink, or something," Yoongi made a face. "So are you really passing up a party chance to go study? On a Saturday? Man, just when I think you're cool you go and prove you're a huge nerd."
"My condition for helping you with your song was to not call sociology majors 'shrinks," Namjoon pointed at him. "Remember?"
"You still haven't told me what a sociology major does," Yoongi shrugged. "Besides, you're committed now, you can't back out."
"What makes you say I can't?" Namjoon raised an eyebrow at him.
"Because, Jin would pout," Yoongi replied with a grin. "And no one wants to see eomma pout."
Namjoon rolled his eyes, before one arm snaked up and around Yoongi's neck to pull him into a headlock while they walked. "You make him pout all the time, and worse, so don't give me that."
Stumbling a little when he was pulled, Yoongi couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah, but my point still stands," he said, struggling weakly in the hold. It really wasn't of any use, Namjoon was stronger than Yoongi, a point he liked to prove when Yoongi pushed him too far. "You're not going to quit now."
"Maybe I will just to spite you," Namjoon retorted, not letting go as he dragged Yoongi along. He could hear Hoseok laughing behind them. "So watch your tongue."
"Alright, alright, you big gorilla, let go of me," Yoongi huffed. "You're so mean to me, what did I do to deserve this!"
Jungkook just shook his head, wondering once again what he was doing anywhere near these people. Life before college had definitely been simpler. Of course, he wouldn't have met Jimin and despite whatever was going on between them right now, putting up with the others that came along with Jimin was worth it. Even if that mean he had to deal with very protective hyungs.
Eventually Namjoon let Yoongi go, to which Yoongi complained to Hoseok about having been manhandled and pointed to nonexistent bruises on his neck. "Geniuses shouldn't have to put up with this kind of treatment." Sometimes, Yoongi just really liked aggravating Namjoon.
The first thing Yoongi noticed when they made it to the apartment shared by the trio, was the smell of meat. The second thing he noticed, was how Jimin was giggling. The third thing he noticed, had him stop short in the doorway and gape.
"The hell did you do to Jin?"
Namjoon had paused as well, temporarily stunned. Because Jin wasn't exactly the way he'd left the studio mere hours ago. The pitch black hair was gone, replaced with a stunning blond without a single sign of roots, framing his face nicely. For a moment Namjoon didn't know what to say, because... it looked really, really good.
"Yah, let us in," Hoseok steered Yoongi past the doorway so he and Jungkook could get in. Then he whistled loudly. "Wow eomma! So pretty! You look like an ulzzang!" Taehyung was leaning out of the kitchen area, grinning widely as he watched.
Jin was absolutely in his element, grinning from ear to ear and absently touching the hair. "You think so?" he hummed, unable to help himself as he gave Namjoon a sly look. Luckily no one seemed to notice since all eyes were on Jin's hair.
"Jimin, why do you do this?" Yoongi sighed, shoulders slumping. "Why can't you just let people have their normal hair color?"
"Where's the fun in that?" Jimin grinned. "He looks so good, and it was his idea anyway."
"It does look really good," Taehyung piped up. "Eomma looks like an idol."
"You're just jealous your hair is the only one that didn't turn out the intended color," Hoseok slung his arm around Yoongi's shoulders.
While Hoseok was being a distraction, Namjoon returned Jin's look with a slightly dazed smile. "...it really suits you."
"Thank you," Jin replied, touching his hair again. "Yoongi, my hair is fabulous, don't be jealous."
"... Not jealous," Yoongi grumbled. "Okay, fine, it looks good. Can we eat now?"
"Definitely jealous," Jimin agreed, bringing a pot towards the small table. "Next time we can make you blond too Suga."
"Don't call me that," Yoongi scowled at Jimin, but let it go, going to the table.
Taehyung followed Jimin out with a bunch of side dishes, and bowls of rice. As they were setting it out, Namjoon hummed in appreciation of the smell. "Looks good. Who cooked?"
"All of us?" Taehyung said, beaming happily. "Eomma showed us how to make the recipes."
"So eomma made sure it's edible?" Hoseok teased.
"They did very well, one small grease fire aside," Jin said, taking a seat. "Jimin has a knack for it... Taehyung, did his best."
"So don't let Taehyung cook, is that what you're saying?" Yoongi snorted, ruffling Taehyung's hair.
"He needs a little more practice, and... patience," Jin said, his tone light and teasing.
Taehyung pouted at Jin. "I did good!" It wasn't his fault he was easily distracted... and had an issue with following directions in the proper order.
Hoseok had already started eating, spooning some of the soup into his bowl. "It's good," he said around his mouthful, nudging Jimin's side. "Didn't know we could add 'chef' to your list of many talents."
"Me either, but it's kind of nice being able to cook proper meals," Jimin said, picking at his food as he glanced around the table. "Save us money on take out."
"I hope that doesn't mean you'll be cooking and not coming to see me once I'm back to one hundred percent," Jin said with a small pout.
"Of course not, I'm sure we'll get tired of eating the same three dishes Jimin learns," Jungkook said, missing the hurt look Jimin gave him briefly.
"...Better to learn and master a few dishes than try too many," Jin said, looking between Jungkook and Jimin. "It just takes time is all. And I'll gladly help you with it Jimin."
"Thanks eomma," Jimin replied, sitting back in his seat, staring at the plate in front of him. "I'm glad people like it."
Hoseok glanced at Jimin beside him, and after a moment he slung his arm around Jimin's shoulders. "...So, Yoongi wants a party tomorrow for surviving the first week of school. You in? After dance practice?"
"A party?" Taehyung perked up.
"Party? I think I can do a party," Jimin nodded, the smile easing back on his features. "We can have it here, we've got the good stereo."
"Perfect, means I don't have to clean," Yoongi agreed. "Ow!" he hissed when Jin kicked him under the table. "I mean, Jin doesn't have to clean, or cook."
"Tomorrow?" Jin chewed a little at his lip, trying not to look at Namjoon. "Um.. I will try to make it, but I have plans... my... sister is coming into town and we're going to dinner."
Yoongi's eyes narrowed at that and he leaned closer to Jin. "You hate your sister."
"I do not, besides I haven't seen her in a long time and thought we should catch up," Jin shrugged, avoiding Yoongi's eyes. "But since I'm sure the party will be going on all night, I might stop in if I'm not too tired."
"How is everyone so busy so early into the school year," Hoseok pouted. "Okay, so that's a yes from Yoongi, me, Jimin, Taehyung... maybe for Jin, Namjoon would rather study... should be fun," he grinned. It didn't escape Namjoon's notice that Hoseok didn't mention Jungkook at all. "Let's play titanic again, now that Namjoon's not around to capsize it in his first try."
"That's a very good point that I hadn't considered," Yoongi nodded, agreeing with Hoseok. "Drinking games will go a lot smoother without the god of destruction around. I like the way you think Hoseok."
"That's because you two are opposite sides of the same coin," Jin said, shaking his head. "You have complete opposite personalities, Hoseok's straighter than a post and you're almost as much of a gay tramp as Jimin, but damn if you two don't have the same thoughts and ideas."
"If only he was gay, he'd be perfect," Yoongi sighed wistfully. "Hoseok, I think you're my straight soulmate, and it's not fair."
Hoseok blew him a kiss. "Sorry, you'd make a horrible girl."
Taehyung started giggling. "Yoongi hyung in a dress?"
"Oh, no, he's got the legs for a dress," Hoseok said. "And the petite hands are right on, but he's missing some very important assets," he put his hands over his chest in gesture.
"Excuse you, I could make a fantastic girl if I wanted," Yoongi said, pointing at him. "But I don't want to, cause I like the bits I got."
"Anyway," Jin rolled his eyes, hoping to steer the conversation in a better direction.
"I thought you were more of an ass man?" Jimin said, tilting his head at Hoseok with a wry smile.
"Oh, the ass definitely helps," Hoseok exclaimed, not seeming to notice Jin's efforts. "But so does a nice rack. It's better in combination." Namjoon just put his head down, shoulders shaking.
"Well I guess that explains why he chose Jimin for his curiosity experiment and not me, I can't complete with an ass like that," Yoongi said.
"... Right, I'm done, going to bed," Jin said, setting his chopsticks over his plate and getting up. "Jimin, could you come to my room for a minute, I want to talk to you," he said, crooking a finger at Jimin who looked up and blinked.
"Uh... yeah, sure," Jimin nodded, following after Jin to the door. He cast a confused glance behind him before heading out.
"I guess it's eomma lecture time?" Yoongi shrugged, not entirely sure what that had been about.
"Possibly," Hoseok popped some pickled radish into his mouth, chewing as he watched the door.
"So how did studio time go after we left?" Taehyung asked Yoongi curiously. "Did you get a lot done?"
"We did, I've got a lot of work still," Yoongi said, focusing more on eating. "And we've probably got several more sessions ahead of us before we're close to being done. I mean, I've still yet to hear from Namjoon and his part, he always likes to keep me waiting on pins and needles. He's so dramatic."
"You like it once I'm finished, you're the one being dramatic," Namjoon snorted.
"Is there anything I can do to help?" Taehyung asked.
"You're doing enough just by agreeing to sing," Yoongi said, giving Taehyung a smile. "But hey, keep working on lyrics, you never know, you could write something I'll like."
"You could just say no, and not get his hopes up," Jungkook said, watching them. "Or do you not want to hurt the puppy's feelings?"
"Don't mind him, he's just salty that he got yelled at by his hyungs," Yoongi said, putting arm around Taehyung's shoulder. "I appreciate your help, even if you don't think you're helping, you are."
Taehyung had looked confused by Jungkook's comment, but beamed again when Yoongi put his arm around him. "Alright. I'll try my best. Can I listen to what you have again tomorrow? I don't think I'll be busy besides some homework, I can keep you company in the studio."
"I'd like that," Yoongi smiled back at him. "At least someone appreciates me enough to want to spend time with me."
"I like spending time with hyung," Taehyung said amiably. "And it's fun watching you work at the mixing board even if I don't have a clue what half of the controls do."
"Aw, you got yourself an admirer Yoongi," Hoseok grinned. "A little fanboy."
"And he'll be the first of many," Yoongi shrugged. "I'm not complaining one bit. He's cute, he's funny, and he thinks everything I do is magical, how is that a bad thing?"
"He's good for your ego, you mean," Hoseok laughed, finishing off his food before standing. "Yah Jungkook, help me with dishes."
"That too," Yoongi shrugged, sipping at his glass of water. The door opened again, Jimin coming in with a bare hint of a smile. "You look way to happy to have had an eomma lecture," he said, raising an eyebrow at Jimin.
"Hm? Oh, well," Jimin just shrugged vaguely, retaking his seat. He shared a look with Jungkook as the younger cleaning up plates, but the youngest's expression was guarded and nervous. "Maybe eomma's losing his touch, or I'm reflecting on what he said."
"Uh huh, sure," Yoongi shook his head. "You know what, I don't care. I'm going to bed."
"Same," Namjoon said, slowly gathering his stuff once he'd finished eating. "It's been a long day." He stood, shouldering his backpack. "Thanks for the meal, Jimin, Taehyung." Taehyung beamed happily.
"You are very welcome Namjoon," Jimin said, smiling brightly at him. "Have a great night."
"Since when does he talk to you like that," Yoongi made a face at Jimin. "You're being weirder than usual."
"Taetae, you wanna stay and have a drink with me?" Jimin asked, ignoring Yoongi.
"Sure!" Taehyung perked up at being invited to stay. "Sounds like fun!"
"Night," Namjoon headed out the door with a wave, not waiting to see if Yoongi was going to follow him.
"Yah, wait up, hold the elevator," Yoongi called after Namjoon once he'd finally been able to extricate himself from the apartment. "You seem in a big hurry to get to your books, starting your study date early?"
"I'm just not eager to stick around when they start drinking," Namjoon rolled his eyes, leaning against the wall while he waited for the elevator. When it arrived, he stepped in. "Not concerned for your roommate's safety, alone with the trio?"
"Hoseok's there, I don't think he'll let Jimin do anything too crazy to him," Yoongi said. "If he's not up in an hour I'll go check on him, make sure he's not tied to a bed or anything."
"Good call," Namjoon snorted. The elevator door opened and he stepped out, fiddling with his phone and walking slowly. "Night. Try not to kill yourself drinking tomorrow."
"Hey, haven't killed myself yet," Yoongi said, watching him as he walked by. "You know where we'll be if you get too bored." With a wave, he headed into his room, the door clicking shut behind him.
Namjoon lifted his head, watching Yoongi go. Once he'd heard the door lock, he went to Jin's room and knocked lightly.
The door opened after a moment, Jin peeking his head out. When he saw Namjoon that warm smile returned and he opened the door wider to let him in. "Hi, wasn't expecting you until tomorrow," he said, keeping his voice low.
"Guess I just wanted to make sure everything is alright," Namjoon murmured, stepping in and closing the door after him. "Is it?"
"Of course, why wouldn't it be?" Jin said, motioning for Namjoon to take a seat on the small couch. "If you're referring to why I left so abruptly well... I wasn't drunk enough for Yoongi's sex discussion."
"You're never drunk enough for sex talk," Namjoon chuckled, sitting down. "What were you talking to Jimin about?"
Jin snorted out a laugh, covering his mouth with his hand as he shook. "Uh... another discussion I wasn't drunk enough for," he said once he'd recovered. "I needed advice... and he's the leading expert."
Namjoon blinked, then raised an eyebrow. "Advice on what?"
"Well, to be honest... sex," Jin said, sitting up a little straighter, unable to look at Namjoon. "You know that I've... never had a relationship, of any kind. So, I guess I'm a little... nervous about where this... will lead and I just don't want to disappoint you. Not that I think or know that that's where it'll lead, but that's what people do in relationships, or so I'm told. So.. I just... wanted to talk to someone about it and Yoongi would harass me mercilessly if I asked him. So... yeah." His mouth clicked shut as he could feel his cheeks burning. Jin was a master at awkward babble.
Namjoon blinked in surprise, then gave a rueful smile. A small chuckle escaped. "That's... kind of sweet. But you don't have to worry about disappointing me or anything like that." He reached out, fingers brushing a few blond locks of hair behind Jin's ear. "Just keep being yourself."
"I guess... it's more for me, knowing what I'm getting into," Jin said, smiling warmly at the touch. "I take it you like the new me? It's very different."
"It's very becoming," Namjoon grinned, thumb brushing against the blond. "What prompted giving in to Jimin's whims? You could have ended up with purple for all we know."
"It was my idea, but he wouldn't let me back out," Jin laughed. "I don't know why, I just... I felt like I needed something new. And... I guess I kind of wanted to look good for our date tomorrow."
"You could just roll right out of bed and you'd still look good," Namjoon said with a wry smile. "So, for tomorrow... I wasn't sure what you would want to do most of the date, but I did get us reservations at that new Italian restaurant you've been eyeballing for a few months?"
About to protest the compliment, Jin's eyes widened and he made a small gasping sound. "No, really? That place is so expensive, we don't have to do that, I mean... it'd be great, but it sounds like too much."
"It's fine. I wanted to take you there." Namjoon didn't have much money; if he did, he wouldn't be living in an apartment complex like this, and working a part-time job. But he'd budgeted, and knew he had enough to treat Jin out. This date had apparently been a long time coming. "If... that's alright with you?"
Jin debated, seeing the hopeful look in Namjoon's eyes. He could tell Namjoon really wanted this to be special, how could he refuse? "Okay, we'll eat there happily. You have to let me buy dessert though."
"Alright," Namjoon smiled at that. He still had his hand loosely against Jin's hair. After a moment, the hand slid further back into the locks as he leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to Jin's mouth.
Eyes slipping closed, Jin returned the kiss, pressing gently and letting it linger for a moment before pulling back. "Why did it take us so long to get here?" he murmured, opening his eyes again to look into Namjoon's.
"Because we're both chickens," Namjoon said with a small laugh, smiling at the older man. He smoothed his thumb against the nape of Jin's neck before reluctantly pulling back. "I should go, or else I'll never leave."
"Tempting, but maybe tomorrow... you won't be in such a rush to leave," Jin said, goosebumps running up and down his spine at the touch. "So... I guess I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Yeah," Namjoon nodded, looking into his eyes. "See you tomorrow." He leaned in to give Jin another sweet kiss before pulling away, standing up. "Have a good night," he said as he disappeared out the door, closing it behind him.
